"Ordinary life does not interest me. I seek only the high moments. I am in accord with the surrealists, searching for the marvelous." ~Anais Nin

Poetry Wednesday #30

Olathe, KS—sometime last autumn
It's not actually a tornado, it just has that potential.

Potential Unfilled

Pressure building,
The wind lets out it's storm-scream,
And water-heavy clouds
Stack
One on top
Of the other.
The sirens sing their warning,
And animals seek shelter–
Cowering together–
Hoping for protection
From whatever's coming on.
Oh! What ominous darkness!
What a frightening sky!
Destruction threatens,
Then moves on.
Leaving the surrounding landscape
Little changed,
And the held breath of the
Smaller creatures
Wasted.
